The built in laptop keyboard has stopped working, and I am not sure where to go from here. I normally have it hooked up to a USB C hub that includes a keyboard and mouse, and only take it off maybe once a week. Because of this, I don't know exactly when this started.
A couple of points:
- The keys seem to work as expected to get into the BIOS upon startup, and navigate within the BIOS environment
- I tried to reset the BIOS settings to default, and it made no difference
- I tried to remove the keyboard from device manager, and it has reappeared, but still does not work
- The power button works as expected
- Touchpad and fingerprint sensor are also not working
- External and on-screen keyboard work as expected
- I tried a system restore, but the restore point was only 2 days prior, and I had not tried to use the keyboard between the restore point, and when I first noticed the issue
- I haven't added any hardware or software recently.
- I don't recall changing any settings, although it is possible that I did at some point and don't remember
Has anybody experienced something similar? Any thoughts as to where to go next?

Since it works in bios, it's probably a driver issue. For starters, if you can get to the HP drivers page, download and install the latest one. I can't find your model with 15-Ed0xxx, we need the full model number, found on the bottom label.

Thank you for your reply. That is indeed my product. I looked through the driver list under Keyboards, and I'm not sure which if any of these are the correct driver to update.
In the device manager, there are 4 keyboards listed, total. 3 "HID Keyboard Device" and 1 "Standard PS/2Keyboard" For location, the first HID says "on Intel(R) HID Event Filter", the 2nd one is "on Converted Portable Device Control device" and the 3rd one says "on USB Input Device". The Standard PS/2 says "plugged into keyboard port". I can't really tell which one is the USB keyboard I'm using, and which one is the laptop keyboard. All 4 of them say "This device is working properly".

I just tried that, and it said that the driver wasn't supported by this version of Windows. Looking at my device manager under the Intel(R) HID Event Filter it says the version is 2.2.1.386, compared to the 2.2.1.379. Upon closer inspection, my Windows is 21H2, while the list on HP's website is for 20H2. There is no menu option for 21H2.
At the same time, the Windows Update is hounding me to install Windows 11. Is this something that may help with the issue?

Judging from the HP users who have driver issues with Windows 11, and a few minor quirks that turned me off, I chose not to go to W11 for now. I'll let everyone else go through the growing pains of a new OS.
