I have a HP 15 Notebook PC
Model # 15-f272wm
Product # N5Y05UA#ABA
OS Windows 10 Home 64 bit
It came with 4GB DDR3 SODIMM. I was running into issues with speed and it would freeze up sometimes. Everything I have read says Windows needs 2GB to operate. I use Firefox a lot and it uses over 1GB most of the time. This didn't leave much to spare. I was looking to up the RAM to 16GB so I ordered 2 banks of 8GB.
In the HP Support Assistant I ran the OS Diag program. In the info it states that I have 2 RAM slots. But I have only 1 socket. There is room right across from it where the one is and all the online videos I watched says this is where the 2nd socket is supposed to be.
My question is there another place where I can add a bank of RAM or can another socket be added?
I did install one of the 8GB banks and this made a big difference but I would like to go bigger.
Any advise?

Hi,
Your notebook has one slot and supports max 8GB of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM which will run at 1333MHz. This is the case with Pentium and Celeron CPUs. The CPU in your notebook Intel Pentium N3540 supports max 8GB of RAM
You can also see on page 1 of service manual (even if it says max 4GB, the actual max is 8GB. What you could do is maybe replace the other RAM you bought for a 2.5" SSD which would give an extra boost to everyday performance.

Hope it helps,
