My HP Notebook (17-ab002nb) no longer works on AC power, only on battery. The battery is still charging.
When I switch on the notebook with the mains power on, it still uses the battery until it is empty again.
Any idea what could be wrong here?

The adapter could be failing and cannot provide enough current to run the product but can charge the battery which takes a much lower amperage. I would try a new power supply first.
I am a volunteer, offering my knowledge to support fellow users, I do not work for HP nor speak for HP.

A new power supply was the first thing I tried. It didn't work at all, even no charging. Maybe it was because it was not an original power supply or as you mention to weak for charging and certainly for functioning. Maybe I gonna try another onee now because it may be the solution for my problem.
Which specs for the power supply must I look for? I have no experience for this.
Or is it save to try the power supply from my other 2 notrebooks (1 HP and 1 MSI)?
Thanks for your help in this.

Thanks for the tip. I received a new original HP adapter today and the laptop is working on AC power again. I would never have thought that the adapter was the cause of the defect because the battery was still charging.
Thanks again. Regards..
