Elitebook Folio 9470m
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

After making some hardware upgrades, my notebook (Folio 9470m) keeps crashing (without BSOD). OS: Windows 10

Nature of the crashes:
The crashes occur within minutes to hours after starting the notebook regardless of temperatures and busyness. It’s like pulling the plug on a desktop computer – there is not bluescreen, it’s just off immediately.
When calling up the reliability report, I only get the warning that Windows wasn’t shut down properly.
This happens regardless of whether it was in battery mode or plugged in.

Changes I had made:
- new mSATA SSD into empty mSATA slot (just for data storage)
- memory upgrade from 4 GB to 8 GB
- Exchanged thermal paste
- BIOS update to newest version

What I figured out so far:

After changing RAM back to the previous module and removing the mSATA SSD, the crashes stopped.
What is totally weird: With either the new RAM module OR the mSATA inserted, the crashes occur. I tried with only the new RAM and with only the mSATA and the crashes occur in both scenarios but not if I go without either.

I tried the RAM module in another compatible notebook and it seems to be running fine. I also don't think the mSATA SSD is faulty. So, why can't my notebook cope with either?

Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Thanks a lot!!
Patrick
