Hi All,
Apologies for not providing an update sooner. After speaking with a number of HP reps. and many hours of fruitless software updates/configurations through HP's wireless access I was told in order to fix the clicking noise I would have to ship the laptop to a U.S. facility to be repaired. After about 3 weeks I received the laptop and the noise was still noticeable. However, as time went on the noise grew fainter. The noise still persists, some days it is louder than other, especially within the fist few hours of use. As another forum commenter noted I doubt this noise can be removed without totally replacing the hard drive. I am considering returning the laptop as other issues have arisen. I'm also concered with the warranty and how long the laptop will be functional with the repairs.

@marianne_cc wrote:Thanks for the reply. I think the only thing to do it is not to buy HPs laptops anymore. I have Sony, Samsung and Acer before, any of them had any problem..I think that HP doen´t test enough their computers...they want to be a big computer brand but they should keep just with the printers, that is my conclusion.
I agree with you totally! I regret getting an HP laptop. This is my 1st laptop. I have an old HP desktop and I thought I'd go with the HP brand again. Now, I wish I had gone with maybe a Lenovo. A few sales reps at Best Buy and also at Fry's Electronics told me that Lenovo is a great choice. I spent literally 5-6 months researching and deciding. Laptops are so darn expensive, so I wanted to make the very best decision in a Windows laptop. I failed, I guess. My current laptop is Good, excpet for the right crooked hinge. The reason that I called HP back in March, was to complain about the crooked hinge issue. At first, they wanted me to ship to be repaired, but after some miscommunications they decided to send me another laptop and I was suppose to return this laptop back to them. Luckily, I made sure to check the laptop they sent me before shipping them my laptop. I'm so glad I did that or I would've been stuck with a loud laptop. I sent them the loud one right back to them after the noise wouldn't go away and it wouldn't shut down normal.
