Hi @AristotleGH,

Thank you for replying,

After your request, I did go through the website myself and unfortunately this website does not contain the fix it for your issue. Don't worry as I have found few other steps which should help you resolve this issue.

Please do try doing a clean install of the graphics card driver that may do the trick.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Nvidia graphics driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to Nvidia.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

Hi @AristotleGH,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

The error message "video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error' is displayed when Microsoft Direct X graphics subsystem has detected a violation. This is usually caused by a driver issue. It could be corrupt or out of date.

Is your Direct X updated?

I would suggest please update the BIOS, Chipset drivers and graphics card drivers from our HP support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Have you done all your Windows updates?

Windows 10 has a built in troubleshooter, have you tried it?

Press the windows key + C to open charms

Type troubleshoot  video-dxgklnr_fatal_error in the search bar and press enter.

Follow the on screen prompts.

Have you tried doing a restore back to a known good date?  HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 10, 😎

With Windows 10 you have a refresh you PC option, have you tried it? If the issue still persists then you may perform a Windows Refresh (repair). This will also not delete any of your data and fix any issues with the Windows operating system. The link provided is for Win8. However, it will work for Win10 also.

Thanks so much @Jeet_singh for your solution but nothing seem to work for me i have update the bios, windows is up to date, all drivers updated but still bluescreen with same error. But i unstalled the nvidia drivers and found out the the 3D video  controller( Nividia Geforce 940mx  card) is hidden at the devices manager by clicking on the show hidden devices.  I right click and found the Message "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer". And am thinking that maybe this is causeing my bluescreen. Because sometimes after the nvidia installation my pc will work fine for about 6 hours and the bluecreen appears again meaning the card has disconnect and is not functioning well.I will check the device manger show hidden device and will see that the nvidia geforce 940mx is hidden. this is my screen shot. Thanks for any help againCapture.JPG

Hi @AristotleGH,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

As I understand the computer gets a blue screen error, However, since you haven’t captured the error code or message,

I would request you to follow the below steps to capture and reply back with the error message/code to identify the issue and find a permanent fix:

  • In Windows, search for and open View advanced system settings.

  • In the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.

  • Under System Failure, remove the check mark next to automatically restart, and then click OK.

  • Restart the computer to apply the change.

  • The computer no longer restarts automatically when a blue screen error occurs.

For more details: click here

Please reply back with the error code as the issue is code specific and it would be rather easier to provide an accurate solution using the same.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I can understand how annoying it is, but don't lose hope, we're here to help you. I did try to check about the error message and found a solution, let's try these steps here:

Cause:

This issue occurs because the AMD driver does not support Runtime Power Management (RTPM), but the Intel driver does support RTPM.

Workaround:

To work around this issue, disable RTPM in the Intel driver. To do this, click the Fix it button or link. Then, click Run in the File Download dialog box, and then follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.

Important We recommend that you restart your computer immediately after you complete the Fix it wizard. The changes that are made by the wizard will not take effect until after a restart. If your system crashes before the restart, you have to rerun the Fix it wizard again.

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.
