HP are you ashamed when locking out BIOS and providing it in a way that, despite motherboard capabilities and upgrading to the latest version, keeps SSD NvmE disk capable of PCIe 4.0 x4 working on PCIe 1.0 x2?

@tarmiricmi, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
You're using a high-speed Corsair MP600 CORE XT (PCIe 4.0 x4) SSD in a laptop designed with more modest I/O capabilities. Here’s the technical breakdown for your specific model:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U
This CPU is based on Zen+ architecture (12nm, Picasso) and only supports PCIe Gen3, not Gen4.
Furthermore, the mobile SoC (System on Chip) integrates chipset functionality and limits PCIe lane bandwidth for M.2 slots.
Motherboard M.2 Slot:
While your SSD can negotiate up to PCIe 4.0 x4, this laptop’s M.2 slot is wired for only PCIe 2.0 x2 at most — not x4 and certainly not Gen4.
BIOS / Firmware Block?
No — this isn’t about a firmware block. The issue is electrical and architectural. The slot physically doesn’t support more lanes or higher generations.
