OMEN Laptop - 15-en0013dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had this problem for a long time. When I have a browser that has multiple windows and tabs open (though memory is at 60 percent. I play a youtube video, then scroll down the page of comments. It starts producing distortion, Like crackling of overdriving the amp. If I restart the computer again, there is no problem if I scroll down with 3 tabs open. But if I scroll down with many tabs, I get distortion like it is a memory problem. Now if it is crackling, and I plug headphones in it goes away completely. If I use blu tooth headphones, it works perfectly or I use USBc headphones meant for my cell phone I hear no cracking. If I open Microsoft edge and listen to song, It also crackles. It almost sounds like amp distortion, but if I turn down the volume the distortion continues even and low volume errors.

I have updated the I have run windows update, and have done all updates. Firmware to the latest. I have the latest HP drivers and also the latest AMD adrenaline drivers. I have worked around this problem for years with headphones and did not notice it until the warranty was up.  I have seen others have the problem on Omen 15 laptops  and said the laptop has started doing this when they upgraded to windows 11. But I would bet that they had the problem in win 10 like I did.

If I have the browser open with one tab the problem cannot be reproduced same with edge. I can turn the volume all the way up and no distortion. Any Ideas Thanks.

I was able to resolve my crackling audio. It turned out to be a driver problem. The driver being used was the default Microsoft audio driver. I read online this driver has problems with crackling and that I needed to remove that driver... In Device manager under Sound, video and game controllers choose the microsoft driver for audio, click on it, click drivers tab. Click on update driver. Choose Browse for driver on my computer.,Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer. I chose the Realtek High definition Audio  and click next. After installing this driver the crackling has gone away so far. The volume is not as loud at full volume but it does not crackle (distort), This is only the second day and it could come back but I don't think it will

This looks like a driver conflict between Realtek Audio and the AMD Audio CoProcessor.

Which driver version (Driver) and hardware ID (Details) does the AMD Audio CoProcessor have? Can be found in the Device Manager > System devices > AMD Audio CoProcessor > (see above).

If hardware ID:

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E2&SUBSYS_(can be different)&REV_00

or

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E2&SUBSYS_(can be different)&REV_01

then the driver version should be 2.xx.x.xx, version 6.x.x.xx causes these problems.

The correct driver can be found in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Install:

Uninstall AMD Audio CoProcessor from Device Manager (remove with software) > Restart > Windows reinstalls a version 2.x driver

You can upgrade this to a higher version:
Download the driver > Unpack it into a folder with an unpacker like 7-Zip > in the Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Browse button and select the folder with extracted files from the CAB file > OK > Next > Close

or

In the folder with the unpacked driver files > Right-click amdacpbus.inf > Install > Restart

Right-click on the loudspeaker symbol in the systray at the bottom right > surround sound > click on deactivate (even if a check mark has already been set) should also eliminate the noise, but only temporarily.
