HP Pavilion dv6-6131sl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

PC model: HP Pavilion dv6-6131sl

Good evening,
the laptop in question is very old, basically had Windows 7, and theoretically is not compatible with later operating systems. I have however upgraded it to Windows 10 with clean installation but I was not able to download the drivers correctly. The PC turns on, is running (it opens the cd drive for me), but shows black screen, without even showing the BIOS. It seems as if it was left in some kind of limbo even before showing me the brand screen. I've already tried connecting to an external monitor but no dice.
Afterwards I tried following a procedure recommended by you:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1997719-1528356-16

It correctly downloads the BIOS update driver, but when I run the exe it gives me the following errors:

"BIOS did not support InsydeFlash".

"IHSI: Get support mode fail in SMI!"

I ran the procedure from another pc that is not HP.

Try removing each memory module one at a time and then also remove the hard drive. Very easy on this model. See if you can then access the BIOS on one memory module without the hard drive. If not I am thinking it is the motherboard.

I seriously doubt the BIOS has anything to do with the issue. Were you able to get through the Windows 10 installer routine?

The link you give does not really lead anywhere.

Yes, I installed windows 10 and used it for about a week without any problems; until I tried to turn it on and encountered this problem.
Probably the link does not lead anywhere because I live in Europe and therefore I use a European IP, to me it opens without problems. Now I attach some images.

What you see in the image is the procedure that I tried to follow, but without success.

If it installed Windows 10 and ran for a while it is exceedingly unlikely you have a BIOS problem. On an older machine it is very likely to either be bad memory or a bad hard drive.

I understand, what should I do?

I did exactly as you indicated now before you even told me, I switched memory slots. Now it started without any problems, thank you very much for your availability. Now, what do you recommend I do to make sure it doesn't happen again?

HP Recommended

Identify the bad module by running memtest86 and then replace it.
