The laptop came with an nvme, but I am looking to upgrade it. What are my options? Can I use sata, or only nvme m.2?

@JJackson1979,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your OMEN by HP - 15-dc0010nr (3WL23UA) according to HP sources like this one: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=3WL23UA, can use both a SATA SSD (9.5mm or 7mm 2.5 in) and an M.2 NVMe SSD.

I would choose the M.2 NVMe SSD as your primary (boot) drive for speed and unrivalled (read/write) performance.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

I typed the model wrong. The model is 15-dc0051nr. Crucial's website recommends nvme and sata drives, that's why I was confused. I'm not sure if it's compatible with both.

@JJackson1979,

Either way, your OMEN by HP - 15-dc0051nr (3UK57UA) can be fitted with BOTH a 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) or 2.5-inch SATA SSD and an M.2 NVMe SSD: HP - Compaq | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com.

Choose the M.2 NVMe SSD as your primary (boot) drive for unparalleled (read/write) speed and performance.

Kind Regards,
