I bought this laptop brand new, and it has been working perfectly since 2021, and I have upgraded the OS from Windows 10 to Window 11, this has been running fine since the upgrade.
I have replaced the battery when I noticed that the battery is not holding charge.
I have gone into device managers, updated/reinstalled the adapter drivers and that didn't work. I have flashed the BIOS, and checked for updates there and that hasn't worked, and I have run multiple component tests and those all show the battery as working correctly, and when testing the AC Power it reported that there is no charger present. I have also tried multiple different power outlets as well. Tried a new charger with the same result. 😞
This means that I can only use the laptop on battery power.
I have seen similar posts asking similar questions, and all the responses haven't helped me either. Will you be able to help?

Hi @Food2go
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thank you for laying out the situation so clearly. I’m genuinely sorry you’re facing this—having a high-performance laptop like the OMEN 15 refuse to charge while powered on is deeply frustrating, especially after all the careful steps you've already taken.
Let’s dig deeper and explore what might be causing this and how to move forward.
What This Behavior Suggests
When the laptop charges only while powered off, it typically points to one of the following:
- Power delivery conflict at the system board level
- Charging circuit degradation or failure
- Firmware-level block or miscommunication between charger and embedded controller
- AC adapter recognition failure under active load
1. Perform a Hard Reset
This clears residual power and resets the embedded controller:
- Shut down the laptop.
- Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Reconnect everything and power on.
2. Check Battery Charging Behavior in UEFI Diagnostics
- Restart the laptop and press Esc → F2 to enter HP UEFI diagnostics.
- Navigate to Battery Test and observe if the system detects the charger while powered on.
- If it still reports “No AC Adapter Present,” this confirms a deeper hardware-level issue.
3. Inspect the Charging Port and Connector
- Use a flashlight to inspect the DC-in jack for bent pins or debris.
- Try gently wiggling the connector while powered on—if charging flickers, the port may be loose or damaged.
4. Test with HP Battery Health Manager (BIOS Setting)
Some OMEN models include a BIOS-level battery health manager:
- Enter BIOS (F10 during boot).
- Look for Battery Health Manager under Advanced or Power tab.
- Set it to Let HP Manage My Battery Charging.
- Save and exit.
If none of the above resolves the issue, this points to a likely failure in the charging circuit or embedded controller. Since you've already replaced the battery and tested with a new charger, the fault may lie in the DC-in board or motherboard power rail.
You’ve done everything right so far—let’s make sure this gets resolved properly.
