Example: Omen 15t

I run an HP Omen 15t, and generally, when doing things such as school, the temperatures run between 90-110F degrees. Recently though, after starting the computer or waking it from sleep, the CPU temperatures have been in the 140-160F degrees; I check the Task Manager to see what was running, and the System was using 20% CPU and driving the temperatures high.

As good practice, how do you keep temperatures (both GPU and CPU) low while doing the mundane? I have a cooling pad (that sucks), and am in the process of building a new one with better air movement. But as far as the actual system, how can I help it out?

Also, any tips for how to help keep the temperature levels low when gaming? I'm always in the green numbers, but I tend to be a bit paranoid, so I want to do anything that will help.

I eventually had to hop on a live chat with an HP Expert, and she helped me run system tests, update the OS and BIOS, then run a few upgrades to clean the system of junk and prevent overheating. It's worked so far, but I am continuing to research the issue.

As far as the CPU performance, I am also still researching this.
