Hi.

OK. I have an Omen 16, running Windows 11, which I bought from the HP Website. The sound issue I am having is, on youtube, my sound goes up of its own accord, pops, and then goes back down. Bang and Olufsen is written on the case, but there is no Bang and Olufsen app and I can't find it on the Microsoft app store. There is no Omen Audio Control app on here either, and I can't find that on Microsoft app store either. I have adjusted every available setting in the sound settings to no avail. I have tried every available sound driver on my system, also to no avail. I have tried multiple browsers and the problem persists. If someone could offer me some advice or a fix to try for this issue, I would be grateful. Cheers.

Hi @feniss,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can understand why this is frustrating, especially after trying different drivers, Windows sound settings, and multiple browsers. Since the volume changes and popping happen across different browsers, I would look at the HP audio software and driver configuration rather than YouTube itself.

One thing to check first is OMEN Gaming Hub. Depending on the exact OMEN 16 series, HP lists OMEN Gaming Hub as the installed HP application, while the audio control software can vary by model. Some OMEN 16 models use OMEN Audio Control, while others use myHP Audio Control with Bang & Olufsen audio.

Check OMEN Gaming Hub

  1. Open OMEN Gaming Hub from the Windows Start menu.
  2. Check the available sections for Audio or Audio Control.
  3. If an audio control section is available, check whether any equalizer, audio enhancement, or sound profile is enabled.
  4. Temporarily return the audio settings to their default settings and test YouTube again.

If you don't see an Audio section in OMEN Gaming Hub, don't install a random Bang & Olufsen application from another source. The audio software supplied with OMEN notebooks varies by model.

Check the audio driver

Since you have already tried several drivers, I would check the driver currently installed rather than continuing to install different versions.

  1. Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right-click the HP/Realtek audio device and select Properties.
  4. Open the Driver tab and note the Driver Version and Driver Date.
  5. Also check whether the Roll Back Driver option is available.

HP specifically recommends rolling back the audio driver when audio problems begin after an update.

One important check

Could you also tell us the exact OMEN 16 model/product number? There are several different OMEN 16 generations, and the audio software is not the same across all of them. For example, HP lists Bang & Olufsen/OMEN Audio Control on some generations and different audio software on others.

You can find the product number by pressing Fn + Esc and checking the Product Number shown in the HP System Information window.

Once you provide that product number, we can check the correct HP audio package and the software that belongs with your particular OMEN 16 instead of having you continue trying unrelated drivers.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
