Omen 17 Prod D 2XP12AV

The plastic cover clip for the ethernet port on my son's Omen 17 laptop has broken.  This is the little spring loaded plastic bit that screws to the back of the fan housing.  Electrically, the ethernet connection is fine, but now the cable must be held in place by hand to work.  Is a replacement for the plastic piece available?

Unfortunately it is part of the Base Enclosure which is a large and expensive part.

You can see it on p. 46 and there is no replacement part for just the ethernet port cover. It does not bolt inside the laptop just to the bottom cover, however. Do you still have the broken piece?

That is odd.  I do not have the piece that is flush with the bottom cover.  (My son likely broke it off, my wife probably vacuumed it up, heaven only knows where it is now)  I expected the remains of the plastic bit to be attach to the bottom  cover, but there was no evidence of that.  Rather the broken plastic piece is spring loaded  and screwed to the underside of the trim piece covering the fan housing.  When I look at the RJ45 port I now see the electrical connections at the top of the port, not the little square flapper with the rectangular slot shown in the manual drawing.  Presumably that is the portion of my broken plastic piece that is gone, as well as the trim that is flush with the bottom cover.
