Omen 17-an107nm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Omen 17-an107nm laptop
Born on: 03/2019

Battery: HP 922753-421 - 86Wh, 8 cells

Laptop has an issue with battery leak when not used while fully shutdown + brick is getting hot when charging from flat battery:

Fast boot is off

USB charging is disabled

No devices connected

Keyboard backlight is turned off

Latest BIOS

Laptop has only 150 boot cycles, 10/10 condition.

It loses 5-7% (since the day 1) of battery juice each day and in 3 weeks you will not be able to turn it on. When battery flats out and you try to turn it on, battery LED indicator will cycle flash steady white to infinity (if you hold power button it will strobe flash). One indicator that battery gets deeply discharged is that laptop forgets about keyboard backlight settings BUT CMOS error is never shown because there was still juice left for BIOS to hold other settings (I never saw CMOS error, only after battery is disconnected, no matter how long it was left unused).

About CMOS on these devices: there is no dedicated battery only main one, you have to disconnect it to clear CMOS and no you can't (comfortably) use laptops like these with disconnected battery because it will take 2-3 mins to even get to CMOS prompt (each time power is lost).

This is my second Omen with the same looks, the first one had bigger issue with ESD as demonstrated here. We can all agree that this Omen "chasis" is completely unreliable, not sure about the new one.

Do I have any way of fixing this under warranty before battery gets swollen and breaks my laptop or explodes (and warranty expires)?

Too many people reported this issue or don't even know it exists(who keeps their laptop unattented for 15+ days anyway). I suspect this is factory error over the whole Omen 2019 lineup. I want someone to confirm or deny, I dont want my mint laptop butchered, trying to repair something that maybe can't be fixed. It is what it is...
