My "Left CTRL" key is unresponsive (doesn't work anymore). "Right CTRL" works. The following keys only work with a direct middle hard press (outer edge press does nothing): deofc. These keys may just require cleaning. In contrast, here is everything I've tried for the left ctrl key:
Uninstalled Unnecessary Applications
Cleaned Keys at Hinge
Disabled Services
sfc /scannow, DISM (https://www.makeuseof.com/difference-between-chkdsk-sfc-and-dism-in-windows-10/)
Reinstall Drivers (via Device Manager)
Windows Update to 21H1
Firmware Update (Synaptics, HP)
regedit i8042prt (set start to 1 from 3 and 1 back to 3)
https://windowsreport.com/fix-corrupted-keyboard-driver/
regedit Keyboard Layout
Re-imaged via DISM (to latest)
Reset Layout by Language Switch
Disable Language Switch Hotkey
BIOS Update to HP F.24 (latest)
Cleaned Keys Beneath Hinge
Shortcut Keys
System Extensive Test (via BIOS): All PASSED except Battery Check: Primary - Weak (30).
Power down and hold for 60 seconds with dead battery, etc.
The issue seemed to be temporarily fixed when I changed Adobe Creative Cloud software preferences (as it worked in the application), but after 6 months it doesn't work in any application. Laptop is 5 years old. How can I fix my LEFT CTRL key?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. The last thing I can suggest try and restore the OS back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue. The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

My @lt-97 (a) key stopped working so I decided to remove the bttery. Tht ws one hell of n dventure. Now, the left+ctrl works gret! On the other hnd, the @lt-97 key does not.
I ttempted to use the lptop in sfe mode. It didn't fix nything. @t this point, it's either the keybord itself or some other issue. Where cn I order @ replcement nd where cn I get it fixed?
