Hi Everyone,

I recently bought an Omen Laptop. For some raison, the pause and delete key have been exchanged. Physicaly, on the keyboard.

I'm not happy with that. I would like to get the right key at the right place. Is this possible ?

Thanks,

Nicolas

HP has produced and brought to market more than a thousand different models of notebooks and desktop PCs over the years.

It is difficult to help you if we don't know the hardware configuration of the laptop that you own.

Method #1: If the notebook will boot into Windows, you can retrieve your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key.

Method #2: Press the power button and immediately tap the F10 key to invoke the BIOS. In the Main section, you will find the Product number or Product ID. Post that in your next reply in your thread.

Method #3: Press the power button and immediately tap the F2 key.

Method #4: If powering on is not an option, take a look at the bottom of the laptop for the label with the product name and product number. Do not include the serial number of your HP product when you identify as it is not needed. For a desktop look at the rear for the label.

If your laptop has HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI version 10.3.0.0, there is a System Information section that also has the Product ID.
We need that information, along with the installed Operating System information to help you.

We also need to know whether you have a qwertz or qwerty keyboard

This is what you need, I think

I have an AZERTY, belgian keyboard and I use Windows 11.

The pause and delete key have been inverted. I would like to restore them like they are on every keyboard... I don't realy care about the writing, but I want that when I press what's now the "pause" key, it send a "delete" command instead.

Regards,

Nicolas

I can't see any way I could help you with that, other than suggesting making labels and  then remapping the specific keys.

Perhaps someone else has another idea.

Hi Erico,

Making labels wouldn't solve anything. The writing on the keyboard is not the problem. The problem is that when I press the usual delete key, by misteake, then it shutdown my laptop. Because, that usual delete key have been mapped to pause, and for some raison, this pause key shutdown the computer.

Of course, I could get used to it, but I use other keyboards too. So, it's a problem. I tried to redefine the pause key with autohotkey, but it doesn't work. That pause key seems to be hight level priority and autohotkey can't interrupt it. It looks it's even behind the reach of windows itself. Because if I said windows to ignore any shutdown key or other feature than the regular one, the pause key still "works".
