Hi everyone,
I recently got an Omnibook Ultra 14 , and I've noticed a strange issue with the backspace key. It only registers input when I press it directly in the center. If I press near the bottom or edges of the key, nothing happens. All the other keys are working fine.

This doesn’t feel normal for a laptop at this price point, and I'm wondering if this is a hardware defect (like a misaligned stabiliser or hinge), or if anyone else has experienced something similar with this model?

Would appreciate any insight, not sure if I should try removing the keycap to inspect it or just go straight to warranty support.

Thanks!

@MichaelKr, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding keyboard issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you're experiencing an issue with the keyboard on your Omnibook Ultra 14, it might be a hardware defect, such as a misaligned stabilizer or hinge, as you suspected.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take:

Perform a Restart: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve minor inconsistencies in behavior.

Check for Software Updates: Ensure your keyboard drivers are up-to-date. You can check for updates in the Windows Device Manager.

Inspect the Key: Carefully check the backspace key for any visible misalignment or damage.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
