Aside from a couple minor inconveniences I've really enjoyed this laptop, but today when trying to do a bios update (in order to see if it could fix my system overheating issues) one of my type c ports no longer works. My type C port was working fine until I installed this update titled, "HP Notebook System BIOS Update (intel processors)". This is for SoftPaq number: sp99360. I did have my external monitor plugged into the type c port when the bios update was occurring the first time, but as far as I know this shouldn't have affected it. My charging port type c port still works when I try to connect my external monitor, but the one next to it doesn't do anything when I try to connect my external monitor to it.  I Tried installing it again to see if that would fix it and it didn't. I also tried  doing a few help examples from other support items that were similar to this one to no avail. I've tried restarting several times, but nothing I seem to do works. I think that if I go back to the previous bios version it might work, but IDK at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason it works now (I had already tried the updates to no avail). But last Thursday it suddenly started working again. To be fair I have yet to see if that was just a fluke, but to future readers I thought I would give closure to the topic. At the time when I had the issue I had tried restarting and doing the recommended updates to no avail (I had also tried this too: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/One-of-the-USB-C-ports-stopped...). I don't know what changed during those two days, but at least it works now. In any case I wish the best of luck to people who struggle/strugled with the same issue.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊
