One of the RAM slots is causing problem in my laptop. When RAM is put into both the slots, the laptop switches on but the screen is blank and the caps lock light is blinking. I opened the back panel, cleaned the laptop with forced air, removed and plugged in the battery and switched on the laptop with only one RAM stick in slot 2. The laptop switched on. Now when I put the same RAM stick in slot 1, the laptop doesn't switch on and faces the above mentioned problem. What are my options to resolve the issue?

You have done the same troubleshooting a professional technician would use. It's apparently a motherboard issue. Unless you want to replace the motherboard or laptop you have to get by with one memory module.
