HP Laptop 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I ran the Windows 10 update the other day now I can not do the one finger scrolling along the edge. I can only do the 2 finger scrolling. When I go into settings and select touchpad and then select additional settings it doesn't give me the next usual menu, it gives me the mouse properties pop-up window. Is it a driver issue? Cause when I go to HP I can't get the website to give me the driver I need.

@MountainBob16, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Install all available windows updates manually.

Uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers and check if issue is resolved. Kindly follow the below given steps.

  • Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device Manager”.
  • In the list of devices, you should see the touchpad drivers.
  • Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
  • In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package   installed earlier to be deleted.
  • In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes” option. This will cause  the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close  all windows and restart the computer.

Also, Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my issue. I performed all the tasks as you described, I uninstalled the driver, I scanned for hardware changes, restarted, looked for new update through assistance and I am back to the same point I was when I wrote this issue, EXCEPT, now I don't even have 2 finger scrolling. So, now I am a little worse off than I was. When I go to Touchpad additional properties it pops up with mouse properties, not with touchpad properties. Is there anyway to go back to the previous driver before updating windows? Appreciate any help you can provide.

Rollback the driver to the previous version

  1. Go to Device manager > Locate and expand category Mice and other pointing devices.
  2. Then right click the device with the name XX(Depends on your laptop manufacturer) Pointing Device and choose Properties.
  3. Go to Drivers tab, then choose Roll Back Driver option. If this option is grey, you will not be able to use this feature. In this case, try the next step.

Note: Watch this video to know how to Rollback the driver to the previous version for better understanding.

1) Download Intel IO chipset driver from Intel support first. Then double click the Setupfile in the PlatformInstaller folder and run the installation.
2) This driver is for Windows 8.1, so you might need to run it in compatibility mode after the install. Right click the icon of this driver and choose Properties

3) Then go to Compatibility tab, tick the box before Run this program in compatibility mode for:. Then choose the correct operating system for your operating system.

4) Download the touchpad driver for Windows 10 from the HP Support site
5) Then go to Device manager
6) Locate and expand category Mice and other pointing devices.

7) Then right click the device with the name XX(Depends on your laptop manufacturer) Pointing Device and choose Update Driver Software…

😎 Then choose Browse my computer for driver software. Go to the location where you downloaded the touchpad drivers.

Then wait for the driver to be installed. You might need to restart your computer later after you finish this installation.

Let me know how this goes.

Thank you again, was able to install the previous driver but still don't have one touch edge scrolling, but at least I now have 2 finger scrolling back.

Appreciate your help, not sure what the answer so I'll just have to get by until there is an answer someone has found. Just frustrating when you had the function, Windows decides to update and now I can't get it back. I have a Toshiba laptop that after the update everything is still fine, so I know its possible.
