Hi @AIM51,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Terror you’re encountering during the first-time startup of your PC typically indicates an issue with the Out-Of-Box Experience (OOBE) process. This process is part of Windows setup that occurs after a fresh installation or reset of the operating system. Here’s a structured approach to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Power Cycle Your PC

Turn Off the PC:

  • Hold down the power button until the PC shuts off completely.

Unplug and Wait:

  • Unplug the PC from the power source and wait for at least 30 seconds.

Plug In and Restart:

  • Plug the PC back in and turn it on to see if the issue persists.

2. Boot into Safe Mode

Access Recovery Options:

  • If you can reach the Windows login screen, hold down the Shift key and click on Restart to access the recovery options.
  • If you can't access the login screen, turn on your PC and forcefully shut it down three times (by pressing the power button). On the third restart, Windows should enter the recovery environment.

Navigate to Safe Mode:

  • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  • After the restart, press the appropriate key for Safe Mode (usually F4, F5, or F6).

Attempt Troubleshooting:

  • Once in Safe Mode, you can attempt to troubleshoot further or reset the PC again.

3. Reset the PC Again

Access Reset Options:

  • If you are able to get into Safe Mode or the recovery environment, navigate to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  • Select Remove everything if you want a full reset, or Keep my files if you want to retain your personal files.

Follow the Prompts:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset process.

4. Use Installation Media

Create Windows Installation Media:

Boot from Installation Media:

  • Insert the bootable USB into your PC and restart it.
  • Enter BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, DEL, or ESC during startup) and set the USB drive as the primary boot device.

Reinstall Windows:

  • Choose the option to install Windows and follow the on-screen instructions to perform a clean installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
