Hello,
Just bought HP probook 440 G7 Ci7 6XJ49AV. After using it for a while i believe i'm not getting the performance that i expected this machine to perform. After a bit more research i've decided to upgrade my HDD to a better option. The question is, does this specific model of my laptop support Optane Memory? If so, is it wise to add Optane Memory or simply upgrade from HDD to SSD? any feedback/ recommendation would be appreciated.
My main use from this laptop is Mid-end gaming, web designing and casual browsing.

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06481641
Chapter 1 has the supported drive types.
I would opt for a M.2 NVMe SSD.
All the Intel Optane memory does is act as an acceleration cache for the mechanical hard drive.
That isn't going to make much of a difference. Certainly not as much as a NVMe SSD would.
You can use the mechanical hard drive for storage, or remove it altogether and reduce heat and battery consumption, as long as you install a large enough capacity NVMe drive to meet your needs.

Thank you so much for your kind response. May I ask you for your opinion on adding a relatively smaller NVMe SSD to run the OS and few most in-use programs and keeping the HDD for other less used applications?
Unfortunately the service manual you shared could not be loaded so can you confirm me if this device can support both drives (SSD and HDD) simultaneously?

You're very welcome.
The link works fine for me.
Anyway, here is a copy and paste of the drive info.
It appears that HP did not offer this model with dual drive configurations, but that doesn't necessarily mean it can't be done.
I do know that you would have to remove Windows from the 2.5" drive in order to use it for storage and have the PC boot from the NVMe drive.
Primary storage Supports the following SATA, 7 mm, 2.5 inch hard drive:
● 1 TB, 7200 rpm
● 1 TB, 5400 rpm
● 500 GB, 7200 rpm
Primary M.2 storage Supports the following M.2 2280 solid-state drives:
● 512 GB, PCIe, NVMe, TLC (not available with Pentium or Celeron processors)
● 512 GB, PCIe, NVMe, value (not available with Pentium or Celeron processors)
● 512 GB QLC + 32 GB Optane™ memory (not available with Pentium or Celeron processors)
● 256 GB, PCIe, NVMe, value (not available with Pentium or Celeron processors)
● 256 GB, SATA, TLC
● 256 GB QLC + 16 GB Optane memory (not available with Pentium or Celeron processors)
● 128 GB, SATA, TLC
