Optical Drive making sound randomly

I have one problem in my Notebook, I don't know it is common or not ?

from past 4-5 days, my optical drive makes noise (like when we open drive), and it is empty I don't use DVD. But It happens randomly no fix time, it happens anytime whether it is on my lap or on a flat desktop, first of all I thought due to pressure on my lap it is creating such sounds, but on table it also makes noise too,

please help me where is the problem

Run a component test on optical driver to check for hardware failure.
