HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, all. I've been fighting my notebook for a while for a couple of issues.

1. Out of warranty.

2. Have upgraded to Win 10 Home from Win 7 in the interim.

3. Think I need to upgrade my BIOS, but HP Support has no updates for me/can't find my OS.

My PC hates to be rebooted, never takes on the first go, just hangs at Windows Version screen.

I've also been through about 30 webpages in the last 24, trying to clear a 100% Hard Disk Usage issue.

I'm hopeful that I've cleared the last, but my BIOS is F.14 from 2012.

Please help! Thanks for reading.

Hi,

Can you provide the exact model or product number of the machine. There are a lot of DV7 series

HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Product Name or Number? | HP® Customer Support

What you are describing, slowness, disk usage... could indicate a problem with the Hard Drive. Have you tried performing HP hardware diagnostics at boot

Turn off the PC by holding the power button until complete shutdown.

Turn on the PC and repeatedly press ESC until startup menu appears.

Press F2 to enter diagnostics.

Try performing the hard drive test and see if there are any failure ids.

Let me know,

David
