HP14s - cr1008tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey Guys,

I would love an explanation regarding how HP has sold me a laptop with a battery that is already one year old. To elaborate further, I purchased my laptop, (HP14s-cr1008TX) on the 25th of August 2019. My HP diagnostic app would keep reporting a weak battery for a few days with a failure ID and then would return back to normal after a few days!! this has been happening for several months now and I couldn't understand if this was a glitch with the HP app or with my battery which could require a mere Calibration.

However, two days ago, my system showed me a failure ID for the battery again. This time, I ran the diagnostic (component check) on startup (by pressing F2 after switching on). The battery results showed me the battery serial number which had a manufacturing date on it which read: "25/10/18. If your refer to the first paragraph, the date I purchased my laptop, brand new, was on 25/08/19. Which means that HP has sold me a brand new laptop with a battery that's already a year old!!

I can understand that warranty on the battery is provided for one year from the date of manufacturing, but that is no freaking excuse to sell me a laptop with one year old components inside!!

Extremely angered and disappointed as spending so much money on these things still gets  you robbed!!

Was really hoping HP could resolve this issue, but instead they flat-out agreed to the fact that the component may be that old and that there is nothing they can do about it, as they cannot expect to sell every product within a said time frame. IF that is so, then why does the consumer have to pay for a failure in demand for your products? why is such a big, well reputed company like HP selling outdated components literally one year after they have been manufactured?

So now I have to shell out money to replace a two year old battery in a laptop which i've been made to believe is only one year and six months old. Who knows, the entire laptop may have been manufactured at the same time as the battery and now old products are being sold. Really hope someone can give me some clarification on this.

HP, if you are seeing this, this is definitely the last time I put my hands on an HP product.
