HP ENVY laptop 16-h0xxx
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP ENVY laptop 16-h0xxx, running Win 11 home ver 10.0.26100 Bild 26100.

My problem is that the laptop gets very-very hot while in sleep mode but as soon as I go back to active mode everything cools back down as normal, there are no error mgs or indication of problems???

@AndyNK, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Your HP ENVY laptop might be overheating in sleep mode due to power settings or driver issues.

Start by checking your power settings and ensure sleep mode is working properly. Disable "Fast Startup" in the power options to prevent conflicts with sleep.

Make sure your drivers, especially graphics and chipsets, are up to date by checking in Device Manager or on the HP website.

refer this guide to update the BIOS: HP Consumer Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) (Windows) | HP® Support

Also, look at your Task Manager to see if any background processes are running while in sleep mode, which could cause overheating.

If the laptop’s cooling system is blocked or dusty, clean the vents with compressed air.

Also, you may refer this guide: HP Notebook PCs - Reduce heat inside the laptop to prevent overheating in Windows | HP® Support

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
