Hello, my name is Dinis, and I own an HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg0000. I’ve been experiencing some serious overheating issues with my laptop. Whenever I'm working or studying, the temperature skyrockets to 90 degrees Celsius, and the entire keyboard becomes so hot that it’s uncomfortable to even touch the keys for extended periods. It's making it really challenging to use my laptop for longer sessions without worrying about potential damage or discomfort.
I’m wondering if there’s any software that can help me control the fan speed to cool it down more effectively. Ideally, something that would allow me to increase the fan speed manually or automatically when the temperature gets too high.
Just to note, I’ve already tried using SpeedFan, but unfortunately, it didn’t work for my laptop. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Din9,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an overheating issue, it can impact performance and comfort. Here are a few steps and tools you can use to address the overheating issue with your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg0000:
1. Update BIOS and Drivers
Make sure your BIOS and all drivers are up to date. Sometimes, BIOS updates can include improvements for thermal management. Check HP's support website for the latest BIOS version and drivers for your laptop.
2. Use HP's Built-in Tools
HP often provides tools to manage thermal performance:
- HP Support Assistant: Check for any updates or thermal management settings available through HP Support Assistant.
- HP Command Center: Some HP laptops come with the HP Command Center, which allows you to adjust performance and cooling settings. Check if it's installed and accessible.
3. Adjust Power Settings
- Windows Power Options: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options. Click on Change plan settings for your active plan, then Change advanced power settings. Look for the Processor power management section and adjust the System cooling policy to Active.
4. Physical Maintenance
- Clean the Fans: Dust buildup can block airflow and cause overheating. Use a can of compressed air to clean out the fans and vents.
- Use a Cooling Pad: A laptop cooling pad can help improve airflow and reduce temperature.
- Thermal Paste: If you're comfortable with it, consider reapplying thermal paste to the CPU and GPU. This can help improve thermal conductivity.
5. Check for Background Processes
High temperatures can also result from intensive background processes. Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check if any applications are consuming a lot of CPU or memory resources.
6. Environmental Factors
- Ensure Proper Ventilation: Make sure the laptop is used on a hard, flat surface to allow proper airflow. Avoid using it on soft surfaces like beds or couches.
