HP 255 G7 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I opened my HP 255 G7 notebook and discovered that it only has one RAM slot, instead of 2: is it a factory defect or was it born like this?
I would also like to replace the SSD Intenso m.2 top with a Samsung M.2 M.2 SSD, do you think it is useful to increase performance? Thank you

You're very welcome.

That is great news.

Thanks for letting us know that a single 16 GB memory chip worked in your notebook.

Hi:

The notebooks with the AMD 'A' series processors such as the A4 or A6 only have one memory slot, and the max memory the slot can support is 1 x 8 GB.

The M.2 slot in your notebook, if it has an A4 or A6 processor only supports SATA M.2 SSD's, not NVMe.

You may want to up the performance of the OEM SSD if the max sequential read/write speeds are less than 500 MB/S.

You can use the free Crystaldiskmark utility to check the max sequential read/write speeds of the OEM SATA SSD.

CrystalDiskMark - Crystal Dew World [en] (crystalmark.info)

The Western Digital Blue SA510 M.2 SSDs provide the best performance available from a SATA SSD.

This is the 500 GB model for example:

Thank you for the quick reply (sorry my bad english)
If I wanted to install a Samsung M.2 SATA SSD, could I put this on? https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07MBQPQ62/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A11IL2PNWYJU7H&psc=1
I would like to ask you another question: even though the maximum memory should be 8GB, this one just can't work? https://www.amazon.it/Crucial-CT16G4SFD824A-Memoria-PC4-19200-260-Pin/dp/B019FRBHZ0/ref=sr_1_4?__mk_... % C3% 91 & crid = 11O2UZ4QVFPAI & keywords = crucial + ram + ddr4 + 16gb + crucial & qid = 1658496992 & refinements = pizzontestyle_browse-bin% 3A11407951031 & rnid = 517966031 & s = pc & sprefix = crucial + ram +% d sdr4
I ask you why on another notebok hp that I own (pavilion dv6 7090el) also works with 16GB of RAM even if on the manual the maximum is 8.
Thank you very much

You're very welcome.

As I wrote in my first reply, if your 255 G7 has an AMD A4 or A6 processor, a NVMe SSD will not work.  Only SATA.

WD Blue SA510 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD, con velocità di lettura fino a 560 MB/s : Amazon.it: Informatica

You would have to run the windows report I gave you the instructions for, to see if you can run a single 16 GB of memory.

If it does, yes, I believe that the Crucial CT16G4SFD824A would work.

The dv6-7090el does support 2 x 8 GB of memory according to the manual (chapter 1, page 4).

Hello,
thanks to your suggestions I upgraded my laptop: the Crucial CT16G4SFD824A immediately worked!
I preferred to mount this SSD  https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B078WQT6SB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
because I've always got on well with Samsung.
Now I feel like I have a new laptop: much smoother and more responsive ...
