HP Spectre x360 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I remove the AC connection from my laptop, it immediately shuts down.  I have run the battery check and it passes.

Any suggestion on what to try next.  The battery in this PC is not removable.

It is removable just not as easily as you might wish. There are lots and lots of x360 models and we need your specific one described by model or product number to answer properly. You might also post the advanced results of the battery test if you can figure out how to do that.

The product # is N1R85UA#ABA.BattBar20190729.jpg

I could not find a detailed battery test results file.  The above is a screen shot with the current BatteryBar battery stats

Your model is part of the 13-41xx series which has been plagued with charging issues so we need to evaluate this carefully.

That one bad cell can't be a good thing.

THAT is actually quite normal. I see a battery that has some miles on it and has lost a third of its ability to hold a charge but otherwise OK. It should provide some runtime. You are of course out of warranty by now. There is a known set of capacitors on the motherboard that tend to fail and it is obvious by looking that they have. The problem begins with a "can't charge" scenario and ends up with a "can't power on" and the only fix is a repair of the motherboard or replacement. Opening the chassis to replace the battery would expose the capacitors on the motherboard I am talking about but not sure you want to try that. In the meantime I will send up a signal to HP and see if they will offer any help.

Ok.  Thanks! I do have a duplicate laptop.  Purchased 2 for my 2 youngest kids.  the second laptop still works just not being used.  I might try swapping SSDs if that's possible.  I did find the maint manual.

HP Recommended

Well if you are going to open it to change out the SSD you can look at the motherboard near the power port for signs of burned capacitors. Let us know if you need help.

Got the back off. Was able to remove and reinstall the battery and saw the SSD.

Here's a pic of the MB area near the power connector.

I didn't see anything that loo20190729_111954_resized.jpgked like a burned cap.

me either although those are odd marks on the usb port

This older thread has a picture of where the burns tend to be. Under the motherboard part number label:
