Hi!
I got an HP Victus 15-fa0000. I run Ubuntu and Windows on the same SSD. I was watching some series and decided to turn it off. Woke up next morning, and the computer wouldn't turn on. The ON led turns on for 3 seconds and then turns off and retries to start. As the bios isnt showing, nor bios/uefi when trying to "pop" it. Also tying to reset the CMOS.
Well, i've tried almost i know, being an undergraduate computer engineer but couldn't get anything to work. I deducted its related to the PSU, or some power connector, but maybe is the ssd, but the computer is 9 months old, did some installing uninstalling but nothing exceptional to cause a SSD failure. I was seeking some help, before looking for a techinician, but i think i considered everything.
Thank you all in advance,
BeastMode24

Hi @BeastMode24,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already. Here are some additional steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue with your HP Victus 15-fa0000.
Power Cycle:
- Disconnect the power adapter.
- Remove the battery (if possible).
- Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, and try to turn on the laptop.
External Power Source Check:
- Ensure that your power adapter is working correctly. Try using a different compatible power adapter if you have one available.
RAM Reseating:
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.
- Open the laptop and carefully reseat the RAM modules. If you have two RAM sticks, try booting with one stick at a time to check if one of them is faulty.
Remove External Devices:
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, peripherals) and try to boot the laptop.
Disconnect and Reconnect SSD:
- Disconnect the SSD and try to boot the laptop to see if it reaches the BIOS screen. If it does, reconnect the SSD and check again.
CMOS Battery Reset:
- If you haven't already, try removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes and then reinstalling it. This can sometimes reset the BIOS/UEFI settings.
Check for Beep Codes or LED Blink Codes:
- Some laptops provide diagnostic information through beep codes or LED blink codes. Check your laptop manual or HP's support site for information on interpreting these codes.
Attempt BIOS Recovery:
- Some HP laptops have a BIOS recovery feature. Consult your laptop's manual or HP's support site for instructions on performing a BIOS recovery.
External Monitor:
- Connect an external monitor to your laptop to see if the issue might be related to the internal display.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
