HP Pavilion cc129tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to install a new nvme ssd in my laptop. Product document says 512GB PCI NVME SSD is supported. But at the same time "Dual Storage Configuration" says "1TB HDD + 256 GB PCI SSD".  There is no option for 512 GB PCI SSD.

Does this mean I can only use a 256 GB NVME SSD along with the 1TB existing HDD ?

No it just means HP did not offer it that way. A 512 gb NVME was offered as a sole drive but not together with a hard drive. You can install any capacity PCIe/NVME 2280 M.2 SSD available on the market. A 1 or 2 TB would not be an issue.

Post back if you need more help and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

The document I am referring to is as follows

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06525445

So the data provided is for the combination HP is providing and not what I can do with laptop ?

Thank you for your reply!

Exactly. And you CAN install a PCIe/NVME M.2 not just a SATA M.2. That is, if the slot is present. Never a 100% certainty...open the laptop and inspect before buying upgrade parts. Good luck.
