What is the PCIe version on the HP Laptop - 17z-cp000 with AMD Ryzen 5 and touch? I have ordered it and am looking to purchase a WD Black SN770 1 TB drive for it. Model WDS100T3X0E.

Hi, @scottb7711

Is this the model you ordered?

Amazon.com: HP 17z-cp000 Home & Business Laptop (AMD Ryzen 5 5500U 6-Core, 16GB RAM, 128GB PCIe SSD ...

If so, or your notebook has the Ryzen 5 5500U processor, the PCIe express version of the M.2 slot is Gen. 3.0.

AMD Ryzen™ 5 5500U | AMD

I would go with the WD Blue SN570 since the WD Black SN770 is PCIe Gen 4, and it will not achieve its advertised max read/write speeds.

I highly recommend that you cancel the order of the WD Black SN770. The WD Black SN770 is  an NVMe type.

The Maintenance & Service guide for the notebook shows compatibility with  M.2 SATA-3 SSD

My laptop on order says it comes with 128 GB PCIe® NVMe™ TLC M.2 SSD. I'm thinking it should be compatible but was wondering what version of PCIe the laptop will use. I can't get any more information on it though. It also has AMD Ryzen™ 3 5300U (up to 3.8 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache, 4 cores, 8 threads) + AMD Radeon™ Graphics. My order number is H347889904

Hi:

The PCIe express version for the Ryzen™ 3 5300U is also PCIe Gen 3.0.

You're very welcome.

Another good option would be the Samsung 980 (not Pro).
