HP Pavalion G6-2301AX

Recently one of my colleagues was gifted with an HP Pavalion G6 laptop, which his brother was using.

Drilling down the details, i am able to see that it has- CORE i7 3632QM CPU/8gb RAM/500gb HDD/2gb GPU.

But as I see the model no is Pavalion G6-2301AX , and when I check online, I see this model is with AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M (https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03599953) and not with i7.

Am i missing some info here? Or is there a similar model with i7 processor?

@zedprog

The HP Pavilion G6-2xxx machines can have many models use Intel processors and many models use AMD processors. But EACH particular model can only has Intel or AMD processor but not both.

Regards.

.........which states that the AMD model and the i7 model are different "models" under the same model code, and you can't simply buy the AMD model and change the processor to i7 since the motherboard of AMD model doesn't support this kind of change.

Please correct me if I am wrong...

Hi,

There are similar models with i7 processor. Where are you getting the model number from? From the bottom of the laptop? Could the casing have been replaced?

Can you try getting the info from OS or BIOS (product number, model number).

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108

You can also insert the serial number in the product page and see what model comes up.

Let me know,

I got the Serial, product & model number from the battery cabin. Below is the info that I see:

Serial: [edited]

Product: CPM34PA#ACJ

Model: g6-2301AX

When I search with the serial number, I get this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-g6-2300-notebook-pc-series/5330578/model/5344259/do...  which is the AMD processor one, but its Product number is "CPM34PA" and not the one "CPM34PA#ACJ"  as mentioned above. But when I checked the warranty page, I do see  the product  number as "CPM34PA" and not "CPM34PA#ACJ"

2.as a second question,  how is it possible to identify the age of the laptop?? While searching with the serial code, I am able  that the warranty info as:

Start Date: March 07, 2013

End Date: May 05, 2014

So I presume that it's made somewhat close to the 2013 year start or 2012 end. But when I checked with my friend, he said it's about 2.5 years old only.

I am hereby attaching the screens for Q1 and Q2. In total, I am confused with the two questions......Any help is much appreciated...
