Hello everyone!

I have bought my HP laptop a while ago and enjoy it so far.

I would like to upgrade my screen with Full HD one from HD.

As far as i researched, my laptop has 40pin screen. I am trying to determine if it is double or single channel.

If it is single, what is the part number for some cable which might work? I need any 40pin double channel for 15 inch HP with bottom right screen connection.

Any help MUCH appreciated!

Thanks all in advance!

Hi,

Ok you are correct I believe.

This is the service manual:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04427554

So the cable you need is

762544-001

You have to be careful when searching online as some sell the non-FHD with this part number.

The panel you need is 764623-001

which you should be able to find online easily, It does not need to have the exact same part number, but be compatible in dimensions and same pin count and placing on back.

Your notebook supports max 16GB of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM (2x8GB) even if service manual mentions 12GB

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-15-p156nr#memory

You should also replace the Hard Drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD which would give a great boost to everyday performance.

Hope it helps,

David

I kept on researching and maybe i figured something out.

I found that manual online http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04427554

It look just like my model, same processor and gpu as mine is included in manual.

Looks like i have right now 762513-001 that screen together with 762519-001 that cable which is single channel HD only.

And for update i will need 764623-001 this screen together with 762544-001 that cable.

Does it seem right? Thanks!

Also its is not very clear from manual about the RAM upgrade.

I have 6GB right now and wold like to go for 16GB. Is that possible with Intel I7 on that computer?

If not, what is the max?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for your help!

Appreciate it!

Going to order the screen now, right after that going to the store to get the SSD and new RAM.

I guess will feel like a new computer after that kind of updates. Will reinstall the windows aswell just to feel fresh 😁

THANKS AGAIN!

Hi,

Yes it will feel like a different computer. The SSD upgrade alone gives a very noticeable boost in everyday performance.

You can keep the old drive as a backup for your data.

Let me know if you need any further help and how it works out.

take care,

David
