I would like to increase the memory on my laptop. I think it currently has 8 GB DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB). How do I upgrade to 16 GB? Do I just add another 8 GB module? How many memory slots are there in the Pavilion 17-g219cy? Do I have to stick with a DDR3L-1600? Thanks.

@CharlieLenin , welcome to the Community.
Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the laptop: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04655126.pdf
On Page 15, Item #13, appears to show 2 memory modules.
The maximum memory according to Crucial Memory is 16 GB: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-17-g219cy
You should use CPU-Z to find the manufacturer and timings of the current 8 GB of memory: https://download.cnet.com/CPU-Z/3000-2086_4-10050423.html
Once you have this information you can contact Crucial to see if it is compatible with their memory. If not, you will have to find the exact match or remove the 8 GB and replace it with 16 GB (2x8 GB) of Crucial's memory.
