Hello! I have an HP Pavilion DV7 id product: A9X63EA#ABZ actually with i5-2450M cpu and AMD Radeon HD6700M, Windows10 64bit with 16gb ram.
I would like to upgrade the cpu: wich i7 cpu models could I install? And which socket do I have?
Then, I woul like to upgrade che grafic card: is it modular and interchangeable?
Thanks to everybody.

Ciao, Alessandro:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03099448
Unfortunately you cannot upgrade from a dual to a quad core processor without replacing the motherboard.
If you look at chapter 3 of the service manual, you will see that there are different motherboards for the dual and quad core processors.
The same goes for the graphics.
Replacing the motherboard may be expensive but if you want to do that, you can find the list of supported motherboards with the HP part numbers.
You would then need to find a quad core processor (see chapter 1 for the supported quad core processors), and you would probably have to order a new heatsink/fan combination for the quad core motherboard if you get one with better graphics than what it has now.

Thanks Paul.
I hoped it could be more upgradeable (mxm gpu card, etc...)
If I should find an used motherboard for quadcore processor (665991-001 replacement), may I use dualcore processor with it?
Do you know if it's possible to use more memory than the 16gb of ram with a bios update?
Thank you Paul

You're very welcome.
Quad core processors work in quad core motherboard, and the dual core processors work in the dual core motherboards.
I cannot confirm if a dual core processor will work in the quad core motherboard.
The max memory is 16 GB. No BIOS update will change the limit to 32 GB.
The max is 8 GB per memory slot.
Only mobile workstations with 4 memory slots would be able to go to 32 GB.
Only mobile workstations have MXM graphics cards.
