Hello,

i wante do upgrade my G6 processor, you can see the hardware in the picture below.

I've found the maintenance manual in other posts here on the forum and i understood that i can repalace the processor with each one of the processor listed in the manual but i was probably wrong...i bought a i7 2620-M  processor but it's clearly different.

Can you guys tell me why?

Do you know which CPU i can use instead?

Thanks.

You're very welcome.

You can't install an Intel processor in a notebook with an AMD processor and chipset or visa versa.

You have to stay within the AMD processor upgrade specs shown in the manual, which indicates the best AMD processor you can install would be the  A8-3500M.

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

Use this guide to find that information...

What model processor did it originally come with?

I posted a picture with everything you asked but i don't know why it's not visible anymore. Anyway the product number should be: QJ296EA#ABZ The original CPU is: AMD A6-3400M APU with radeon HD graphics 1400mhz. Thank you.

Thank you so much paul! Unfortunately, as i can see, the A8 does not look like too much better than my actual CPU so i don't think a replace is worthful...

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

I was going to mention that, but I decided not to.

It depends on how expensive an A8-3500M processor is.

If you have not replaced the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" solid state drive, I would do that before upgrading the processor.

I've upgraded to SSD and 8gb RAM a long time ago but now i vanted a little faster CPU...a A8 would be about 20€

For only 20 Euros, it might be worth it.

What you can do is to let google be your friend and do some comparison checking...
