This service manual shows the list of WiFi cards i can use: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02834058 However im trying to find a WiFi card that is 5ghz. Can anyone confirm that this is the NIC i need to find? Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 631956-001. I am getting mixed messages on if this NIC is supported in the G7-1150us or not and if it really is dualband / 5ghz. I also can't tell if its bluetooth or not lol sorry for the simple questions as i am worried about that stupid whitelist that HP in there stupid wisdom decided to implement way back then. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for posting back.
To get the answer to this question, YES! this wifi adapter works on 5GHz radio. Also, ensure that your router is a dual-band model and definitely has a 5GHz radio.
Hope this helps!

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see you need help in upgrading the wireless adapter, on HP Pavilion g7-1150us Notebook PC. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you.
After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 802.11b/g/n WLAN installed on the PC.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to go through the Maintenance and Service guide of your HP notebook, and found that your PC supports Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo adapter (BT3.0+HS ready.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
