Hi!

My laptop currently has a 128GB SATA SSD (Liteon CA1-8D128-HP) installed from the factory and would like to upgrade to a Crucial P1 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD for use as a boot drive. I read that some people have succeeded in doing this, and I've read from some people that NVMe SSDs will not be recognized. Can anyone shed some light for me?

Thank you.

@TGP27 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to upgrade the M2 SSD.

Your laptop support only 256 GB.

It will not support 1TB SSD.

However, your laptop supports Dual storage configuration.

● 256 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 SSD + 1 TB (7200 rpm) 9.5 mm

● 128 GB SATA Value SSD + 1 TB (7200 rpm) 9.5 mm

● 128 GB SATA Value SSD + 2 TB (5400 rpm) 9.5 mm/7.2 mm

● 128 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 SSD + 1 TB (7200 rpm) 9.5 mm

● 128 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 SSD + 2 TB (5400 rpm) 9.5 mm/7.2 mm

You can check the manual ( page number 2 chapter 1) as well.

(HP does not recommend upgrades as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance and also, the upgradeable parts listed in HP articles are purely for your ease, though the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion)
