@JimLun, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
That’s frustrating—especially since the external camera works fine! 😩 Since your HP 15-d5000 laptop's built-in camera is giving error and you’ve already tried the troubleshooter and reinstalling drivers, let’s try these:
First, check if the camera is properly detected. Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager) and look under Imaging Devices or Cameras. If the built-in camera isn’t listed or has a warning sign, right-click and select Scan for hardware changes. If it’s still missing, check under Hidden Devices (View > Show Hidden Devices).
If the camera is there but still not working, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and ensure Camera Access is enabled for apps. Also, check for any conflicting software by disabling third-party security software or camera-related apps that might be blocking it.
Also, you can refer to this guide: HP PCs - Troubleshoot the webcam (Windows 11 and Windows 10) | HP® Support
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
