Hello Everyone,
I found a gentleman in Jackson, MS that is an expert. He confirms the problem with our laptops is a flaw in the motherboard, (which we all know is between the gpu/cpu) that MUST be repaired by HP. I have contacted them numerous times and they claim mine is not on the recall list. If all these laptops exhibit the same errors, its HP's problem, they are just avoiding the cost.

My daughter's HP DV6700 died also about 6 months ago. Brought it to repair shop and was told that this is a problem as they are seeing lots of this model with the same problem as all of us.
Does HP want to be known as the Toyota of computers by not acknowleding there is a problem until it hits national news and then forever be blemished with a bad reputation.
HP it is time to step up to the plate and acknowledge that you have a defective product. I will never buy another product until you do. I sell medical software and am frequently asked about brand information and suggestions on which pc's/laptops to purchase. If HP does offer a recall soon, I will start telling customers to avoid their products.

They haven't included loads of products under that litigation. All our models are suffering from the same problem. (HP dv6910us) I don't think they'll fix it. Sadly my laptop too starts for a few seconds and then switches off and the cycle continues. Also finding repairs in India is a tough job too.

Yep, I just got off the phone with an HP case manager. They had the gaul to say that the best they could offer me is an extended one year warranty on a new HP laptop. My dv6700 died a year ago (NVIDIA graphics card failure) and the only thing HP tech support told me is that it would cost $400 to fix it (after they wanted to charge $99 for over the phone tech support because it was out of warranty). I didn't even find out about the litigation until a couple of days ago.
I told the gentleman on the phone that HP was not standing behind their products and their failure and that the HP dv6700 was an affected model, whether or not HP wanted to acknowledge it. I have already filed a report with the BBB of California. What do you think could be done next?
I will never, ever, buy an HP product in any form ever again. They have horrible products and the WORST customer service I have ever dealt with (even for a TECH company!). I have switched to Lenovo and been far more satisfied.
$750 gone because of a greedy corporation.

what litagation ? I just had to call them 2 days ago for my wife's laptop which we found out had a bad motherboard, eventhough it is still under warranty i have to pay $34.00 to ship it to them. Doesn't make sense that I have to pay for a issue that is their responsibility. No more HP or Compaq laptop's for me !!!!

NVIDIA, the company that made the graphics cards for HP computers, got sued for faulty graphics cards. HP is supposed to be replacing them, and of course for many they are not. Here's a link to the info: http://www.nvidiasettlement.com/

Hi,
Thanks for the information but, it is too late. Nvidia, stopped accepting claims on 3/14/2011. I am so dissappointed that when I filed my claim with HP and they turned me down, they did not refer me to NVIDIA.. HP sucks!!!!
