I want to add memory to my Pavilion g6-1d73us. It currently has 4GB DDR3 1333MHz. HP says the part number for this Notebook is 641369-001 (4GB, 1600Mhz, PC3L-12800 memory module). Will it cause a problem to pair a 1600 with the 1333? And if not, is there any benefit to doing this or will it simply downclock to 1333?

The system runs memory at DDR3-1333 speed and more importantly at 1.5 volts. You can likely use DDR3L-1600 as it will both downclock to 1333 mhz and will upvolt to 1.5 volts. However, it may not run in dual channel mode with the existing 1333 memory. You should get a matching module. Match speed and density that is, it should have the same 4 or 8 block of memory on the side of the module as the original and should be the same CL= (latency) number. Manufacturer is less important but if you match the characterisitics of both modules you will get dual channel operation.
This is the Manual:
Actual recommended memory is this:
Memory modules (1333 MHz, DDR3) ● 4 GB PC3 10600 1333 MHz shared 621569-001
Please post back with any additional questions and please accept as solution if its the info you needed.
