@Martin0408, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Pavilion g7 new battery only charging 69%!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try the following troubleshooting steps:
Perform a Battery Calibration
- Charge the laptop to 100% (or as high as it allows, 69%).
- Keep it plugged in for 2 hours after reaching that percentage.
- Unplug the charger and let the battery drain completely until the laptop shuts down.
- Wait 30 minutes, then plug it back in and charge to 100%.
Reset the Battery Settings
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any remaining power.
- Reinsert the battery and plug in the charger.
- Turn on the laptop and check if it charges past 69%.
Update Battery Drivers
- Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager.
- Expand Batteries → Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.
- Select Uninstall device → Restart the laptop (Windows will reinstall the driver automatically).
Run HP Battery Diagnostics
- Press F2 at startup to open HP Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select Battery Test and follow the instructions.
- If the test fails, the battery may need replacement.
Check Battery Health
- Run this command in Command Prompt (Admin):
powercfg /batteryreport
- Open the battery-report.html file in your user folder to check the battery wear level.
Verify Windows Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel → Power Options.
- Select Balanced Mode or HP Recommended power plan.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
