I want to upgrade my laptop but all the information available in manuals and guides is disjointed and confusing. My laptop currently has 1TB HDD and 2*8GB Memory sticks. There is an M.2 port for an SSD.
I want to know if I can attach an NVMe SSD or do I have to get a SATA one. Do I have to limit myself to 512 GB or can I get a 1 TB SSD?
Can I change my memory to 2*16 GB sticks or am I limited to what I have now?
Even for these are there any other restrictions to types (like SSDs with higher speeds may be incompatible)

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion 15 Laptop PC
Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info and supported drive types.
If your notebook has an Intel core processor, then the M.2 slot supports NVMe SSD's (PCIe Gen 3).
A Gen 4 SSD will work but only at the Gen 3 speeds.
Memory: According to the manual, the max is 2 x 8 GB, but if your notebook has an Intel 8th gen core processor, normally those will support 2 x 16 GB of memory.
You can do this to confirm how much memory your notebook can support.
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
