Pavillion dv5

I was using my laptop online and it just quit working. Now it won't turn on at all. The light that indicates that it is plugged in is on as well as the battery charging light. When I press the power button, it lights up for about a minute. There is nothing on the screen and no indication of any disc activity. It is just dead!

Motherboard replacement is the fix. You can find a parts unit for pretty cheap I will bet.

It is old. Have you tried a hard reset. Remove the battery and AC hold down the power button 30 seconds (nothing happens) and then plug in just AC and see if it starts.

Thanks so much Huffer. I did as you suggested, but nothing changed ( I wish it had). it is old but has been running windows 10 just fine for over a year. Thanks again.  Still looking for a fix.

Thanks Huffer, That's a great help just to know what needs to be done to recover from this. Now all I need to do is decide the best course of action to take on it. You've been a marvelous help to me.
