HP Pavilion x360 - 13-u108na
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

Last night I woke up to the battery in my HP Pavillion x360 laptop having exploded, burning through the laptop and my carpet. It's out of warranty and I've read about similar cases happening (though I wasn't made aware of any recall..) but I was just wondering if there was any solution/ help available? And if the documents on the laptop will be able to be saved?

Thanks for your help!

That's terrible!  Unfortunately, that is the inherent danger in all Li-Ion batteries.  I've never had a laptop battery do this, but I had an 18650 battery go "nuclear" on me.  That's why all devices come with a battery warning somewhere in their literature (even my Li-Ion cordless razor has a battery warning!).  If you're out of warranty, I don't think there's much to be done.

Assuming the laptop is beyond repair:

Can you retrieve any data?  (Insert - did you make a backup? - here).  That depends on whether the drive was damaged of course.  If it is not obviously damaged, you could remove the drive and try putting it in a drive enclosure (there are any number of low-cost 2.5" and M.2 slot enclosures from Amazon), cable it to another computer and see if it still works.
