Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, i need to verify the capable version ov PCIe of my spectre.

My notebook was equipted with 1TB of m2 drive, i've upgraded with Samsung 980 pro with pcie 4x4 protocol, but it sims to be very slow!! max read/write speed is 700mb/sec.... it sims to work at pcie 1

Does the pcie controller support latest 4x4 protocol?

Thanks a lot

Hi:

According to the Intel processor specs for your notebook's processor, the Chipset / PCH PCIe Revision is Gen 3.

Intel® Core™ i7-11390H Processor

HP did not offer any PCIe 4 x 4 NVMe SSD's, so my assumption is that is the reason your notebook's SSD is not running as fast as you expected it to.

But 700 MBPS seems to be very slow even with a decent PCIe Gen 3 NVMe SSD.

I would think the Samsung 980 Pro should be giving you a max read speed of around 3,500 MBPS and a max write speed of 3100 MBPS in a Gen 3 NVMe slot.

Sadly, you're right... my notebook is gen3x4.... but why it's so slow???

Unfortunately, that I do not know.

When I have installed SATA or NVMe SSD's in my notebook and desktop PC's, they run at close to their advertised read/write speeds automatically.

I've never had to do anything special.

To solve the problem, have to reinstall windows with correct driver when have to choose the partition to install it.
