Hello,

I am looking for more information about my motherboard.

1-Mainly, is there any user manual in pdf available?

2- Is there any system bios update available? I am at V5.29

3- With this bios version, is there any way to get the full access to my new HDD 6TB? Since the BIOS can see no more than about 1.5TB

Thank you

You are welcome again, @bjsimard!

I believe another problem is the age of your computer.  You are attempting to install new technology into very old technology.  This is not normally very compatible.

@bjsimard , welcome back to the forum.

Here is the Motherboard Specifications page:  https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01901210/

This is the best information available, since HP no longer provides information on your computer because of the age.

Hi Old_geekster,

I appreciated your fast reply. However I already owned this information. I was hoping to find a more detailed user manual. Particularly because not much information is given for the bios and its limitation. This was mainly my question, i.e can I support a HDD bigger than 1.5TB? (the size display by my bios for a 6TB hdd)

Thanks in any case

Regards

You are welcome, @bjsimard!  Unfortunately, there is no further information available.  The size of the HDD that you can use is determined by the partitioning of the drive.  With HDD's over 2 TB you have to use GPT.  Here is an article that will help you:

Hello oldgeekster. Thank you again for your answer, but i did try to partition my 6TB in GBT, But the problem is not there since the W10 disk management tool can not see a disk bigger than about 1.5TB. So no way to partion the 6TB hdd in GBT fully. Based on a research made on Web a pc running with an old bios can not address an hdd bigger than about 2TB since the bios architecture is based on a 32 bit. Finally, thank you to confirm my conclusion. And I will close this ticket

Hello,

For the benefit of the readers, I succeeded to use the full size of my 6TB by partitionning the drive using an  external usb reader. Once well formatted, the drive was seen at 6TB on SATA2 back internally connected incidents my pc on W10
