I've recently upgraded the performance of my laptop by replacing the hard drive with an SSD. This has really breathed new life into my system. I am now considering increasing the amount of RAM it has. It currently has the 6 GB of RAM which it came with. I was wondering whether increasing the RAM to 16 GB (which I believe is the maximum it will support) would be a worthwhile investment in improving its performance.

I would stop at 8 gigs. Replace the existing 2 gig with a 4. That is 33% more memory plus you will gain even more by going to dual channel memory operation. Very few computer users actually need 16 gigs, let alone 32 as you can put on even newer laptops.
